Mother's Day is right around the corner and what mother doesn't love flowers? I know my Mom does and I'm really glad because I'm bringing some for her as a surprise from Pike's Market in Seattle - the city where the most gorgeous flowers are grown. All that rain does pay off.:)

The Skagit Valley Tulip Festival where these tulips are grown is now in its 29th year and has over 350,000 people who flock north to commemorate the beauty of the fields and share in this unique Northwest agricultural experience. Weather permitting, April announces the blooming of the flowers, and hundreds of acres transform from green and brown to brilliant colors that span the rainbow. It is a remarkable sight. One of these days I hope to make it to this Tulip Festival.

Put a twist on your bouquet with this easy tip by Apartment Therapy. Trim off the outer two leaves, line up the tulips evenly and trim the bottom of the stems so they are flat. Tie two rubber bands around them then twist in opposite directions. Voila! A beautiful twisted tulip arrangement that can stand in a bowl.
